A sunny day in London means street food and working in the city, it isn’t long until you stumble across a street food van. For me, it was Bare Bones Cue who serve pulled pork either in a bun or a box.
Although Bare Bones Cue only serve meat from one animal, there’s an option to add bacon and ham if you wanted more pig in your dish. There’s also an added option on how spicy you’d like your sauce ranging from a timid Orange BBQ sauce, to a spicy scotch bonnet sauce.
I decided to try the carb-free pulled pork box with the ‘Smokey Pokey’ smoked chilli sauce. In the heat, I didn’t dare brave the ‘No Name’ scotch bonnet chilli sauce.
The box itself was generous in size with plenty of pulled pork, slaw and pickles. The pork itself was succulent and juicy in parts however some of the meat was a little burnt which left the meat tasting dry. The ‘Smokey Pokey’ sauce drizzled over was an excellent match for the pork, my only complaint is I wish there was a lot more of it served.
Bare Bones Cue was a nice surprise and was a great meal to eat in the summer sun and as an added bonus, is great value for money.
