Broadgate Circle, close to Liverpool Street station, hosts many different vendors for the fortnightly artisan market, with many different cuisines and food options such as burgers, currys, desserts and many more. Each vendor changes regularly so there is always something different and an option for everyone.
On the hunt for a slightly healthier alternative, we encountered ChikP serving fresh falafel with a choice of either a wrap or salad, both priced at a reasonable cost; around the £5 mark.
I decided to go for the carb-free option and opted for the salad box and was surprised to find how the large the portion was, with fresh salad, pickles, hummus and falafel all served with both a chilli, and tahini sauce giving both a tart and spicy taste.
The falafel itself, had a golden crispy coating which was delicious and one of the better falafel options I’ve tried in the city. There was also plenty of hummus and sauce to give the salad flavour. My only concern was that there was a little too much red cabbage and pickles making parts of the salad either too bitter or salty.
ChikP is a great street food option and one where you certainly get your money’s worth. If you love falafel, you certainly won’t be left feeling disappointed.
