La Sophia – Review

Confit Leg of Duck

I was lucky enough to be surprised by my boyfriend and taken to this restaurant as a birthday present. We try to save a bit of money and now and again we buy groupon vouchers for one another. He actually came across a really good deal at this particular restaurant where 3 courses and a cocktail were all part of the offer. I’m really sorry that i don’t have the price as this was a gift so i didn’t ask! (Also i apologise for the lack of pictures!)

When we first arrived i can say we were both a little disheartened, our table was booked at 6pm on a weekday and the restaurant was empty. Also my boyfriend told me from the pictures from the groupon site and the site itself that he expected the place to be bigger.

Although first impressions were not impressive i can tell you now, boy were we wrong! The restaurant got busier soon after we arrived and when the food arrived, course after course we were surprised. Each dish was served beautifully and the food was wonderful.

We almost felt bad for judging the place so quickly. If you do visit don’tbe put off by how quaint the place is. Honestly, it was the best birthday meal i’ve had to date and i think one of my favourite places i’ve eaten in London so far.

Although we did get a groupon offer when the bill arrived it came to £100 for the both of us so i suppose the downside is the price of the a la carte menu! If we hadn’t had the Groupon offer we would have definitely not been as happy with the food as i don’t think it was worth £50 per person. However, they are other menus to chose from and La Sophia does offer different set menus.

If you’re in London and want to visit a nice restaurant with extrememly good food I would recommend La Sophia restaurant over & over again and i can’t wait to revisit.

(Just a heads up if you keep an eye on Groupon La Sophia tend to appear on there quite a lot so definitely pick up the voucher if you come across it!)
